High profile civil rights attorneys pick up the case of Jawan Dallas’ death

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) – Three major civil rights attorneys, on Monday, announced they had joined the fight to support the family of Jawan Dallas in court after Dallas died shortly after an encounter with Mobile Police. John Burris, Ben Crump, and Lee Merrit are the three attorneys representing the Dallas family. Among them, they have represented the families of George Floyd, Tyre Nicholes, and Ahmaud Arbery. “When I heard the fact of the case, I thought it was pretty outrageous. Particularly when you have a situation that’s essentially a person sitting in their car and police come up on him and there’s some discourse, but whatever happened, he winds up dead,” John Burris, who represented the likes of Rodney King in the 1990s, said on why he took the case of Jawan Dallas.
